Alfred Lanternier Limoges Hand Painted Cream Bisque Chocolate Pot # 27319

This is a cream bisque hand painted chocolate pot by Alfred Lantierenier Limgoes. It has a 1911 backstamp as shown. The pot is a matte cream with pale pink flowers and green leaves all outlined in raised gold. Both sides of the pot are shown as both sides are completely different. The pot has a nice gold painted handle and gold trim with a matching lid with a gold painted flower handle. It has great pinched shaping at the neck, a raised scroll and shaping at the spout and a that same raised under the right corner of the floral design.

The pot is an oval shape and measures 4.50 inches across the front and it s about 3.75 inches deep. The pot is 7.25 inches tall to the top edge of the rim and 8.25 inches tall to the very top of that flower handle.

This pot has a lovely and unusual feature-a stay for the lid is built in to the top rim. Two small flaps have been added to the top rim and they are folded over. To attach the lid-you must slide it in from the spout, under these two tabs. This helps hold the lid in place while pouring. It is not a support for the lid, just to help. You must still hold the lid while pouring.

There are a couple of spots, most notably in the front, where the designs seems to have blurred. I do not know if this is by intent or age, but I show one of these spots close up in picture 7 at the top.

The pot has no chips, cracks, crazing, or other damage. The inside is clean and stain free.
